Product Design: ONLY Paintbrush

Product Design: ONLY Paintbrush

All great products starts with a problem that could be related to work, life and anything basically. The thing is, do you really see it as a problem? We usually don't since we are so busy with our lives but some of us just take a step back to look at things differently. It could be little things like a paintbrush?! Yes, a paintbrush! We all have used one and we pretty know what are the pros and cons (mostly) of using a paintbrush. Let's take a look at Christopher Crowley's take of what he called the ONLY Paintbrush ONLY Paintbrush is a new take on a classic tool. It features a built in cap that doubles as it's handle. It's bristles are cast into a silicone band that holds the cap in place. The bristles can fan out when you squeeze the sides of the silicon making the brush super simple to clean. It will be the ONLY paintbrush you ever have to buy. About Christopher Crowley Christopher is a student in Industrial Design at the Virginia Tech based in Blacksburg, VA, USA. Learning in product design, industrial design and illustration; we shall look forward to see more of his work in the future. More information via: Behance.

Product Design: Oneware

I truly believe that designers are taking a huge space in the development and continuity of technology all around. I am not trying to make us feel like superheroes because we are definitely far away from being that. That being said, I do support, believe and encourage designers that have a forward thinking at making/creating products that can definitely change our everyday life and even the World. We would love to present the work of Lim Loren and his splendid product that are objects for one handed usage in the kitchen, check it out! Amptuees, people born with one arm, patients suffering from stroke and temporary injuries often face difficulties when using with daily objects due to the limitations of one functioning hand. Kitchenware is one of the most common ranges of products that they faced challenges with due to the frequency of usage. About Lim Loren Lim is an industrial designer at the National University of Singapore. Having a mindset to invest his efforts at making projects that enable others to accomplish themselves which is in the end totally fulfilling. Minimalist Wrist Watches

Minimalist Wrist Watches

Smartwatches have been around for almost two years I believe and despite all the efforts I feel that they haven't really taken off. I believe the main reason is that wristwatches are more than a gadget, they are an aesthetic piece that represents you and your style. We can see the huge amount of styles you can find, digital, analog, big, small, metal, plastic you name it and we are not even talking about colors. A few weeks ago I got a Huawei Smartwatch just to learn how to create watch faces, the first one I did was the Braun watch, you can see a photo on my Instagram. Now I am looking for more references and I want to share some of what I found. I have been looking for super minimal analog watches, rounded ones because my smartwatch is round. I love the dark models as you can see the images below, however the light color ones have always a nice depth because of the light and shadow. Anyway, I am still thinking about which one I might try to recreate, meanwhile, if you have any suggestion let me know via Twitter.

Product Design: Boosted Boards

Product Design: Boosted Boards

We love interesting products here on Abduzeedo and this one definitely has the  cool factor all over. I remember the days where we used to have pads, helmet and shoes gently swiping the floor as a use of transportation through the city. Now it's electric?! With a remote?! If you're a fan of Casey Neistat, you must have seen it in action. This seems to be like a fun gadget to have if once in the past, you were a skater. A high-density city, campus or neighborhood is a great place to live and work, but it can be a frustrating place to get around. From congestion to limited space to bike thieves, many factors make transportation slower, more expensive and less fun.     Video     About Boosted Boards The world's most powerful and portable electric longboards, now with extended range. Circadian Clock

Circadian Clock

We live with our smartphones and now smartwatches always within reach, that gives easy access to a lot of information, from news to weather and time. They also sort of replace simple things like the need for a wall clock unless its design make it much more than useful, it becomes a statement of style and almost a piece of art. That is the case of the Circadian Clock by Dan Taylor. The Circadian Clock is a clock face concept that displays the 24 hour cycle using light and dark sections. The E-paper clock display allows the viewer to intuitively distinguish the passage of time even in locations without windows. The face displays the time in a similar way to an analog clock, with a shaded area that expands as it gets later. Beautiful Products by Grovemade

Beautiful Products by Grovemade

When we talk about product design, especially now with mobile apps, we most of the time think about digital products. I believe one of the reasons might be due to the reach of these virtual products, the distribution is global and almost instantaneously. But there's also the real/physical products, those in my opinion are much more niche and they really showcase the craftsmanship and attention to details the most of the designers look for. Grovemade has a good portfolio of beautiful products that are definitely worth the feature here on ABDZ. Grovemade is a small team dedicated to crafting exceptional accessories for the home, office, EDC, and Apple products in Portland, OR. For more information check out their website at http://www.grovemade.com/ When it comes down to it, it’s more than just designing and making products. It’s about the people behind the process and all of you throughout the world who share the same values. We're on an adventure and hope you'll join us. We believe our goods are meaningful because of the thoughtfulness of the people behind them.

TRU- Far East inspired cookware

We post a lot of product design projects but the majority of them are digital products like apps or web apps. It's the final project for Levai Levente and it's an awesome example of beautiful industrial design. Hello! This is my degree project. Concept Car Design

Concept Car Design

Last week we saw Elon Musk unveil the new Tesla Model 3 and an incredible number of pre-orders. I followed the event via Twitter and other social media tools and I was amazed by the reactions. It reminded me of the Steve Jobs' Apple Events. Also the fact that people pay a thousand dollars for a reservation for a car that won't be available till 2018 is a testament that people love electric cars, especially well designed ones. Because of that in this post I will share some awesome car design concepts by Alexander Imnadze. Alexander Imnadze is a 26 years old and curious about automotive design & art in general, he has already worked in some of the world most-wide recognized design studios such as Alfa romeo - Maserati, Design house Bertone & now Ford motor company. Since childhood he was always passionate about cars robots & sculpture, "this affected my life a lot" - he says. He went thru art school/musical, to architecture, computer game industry as a sci-fi concept artist to automotive design. During his journey he was always trying to push himself forward and keeping his mind open. Bellow a few of Alexander's work. For more information check out http://alexanderimnadze.blogspot.com.tr

BAIK - Bicycle Design

BAIK - Bicycle Design

I haven't posted about industrial design in a while and it's always good to look for some inspiration away from the digital world. For this post I want to share this incredible project by Ion Lucin and Colorsponge titled Baik. The idea was to create a bicycle design with little elements as possible. The result is an amazing minimalist piece of art. BAIK A minimal bicycle design by Ion Lucin. The idea was to create a bicycle design, with as little elements and lines as possible. With the help of symmetrical lines and angles, it was possible to create a frame, which would blend with the rims of the bicycle, in the same angle, thus even further eliminating the lines that were present. The minimal design goes even further, in the way the color is applied, to express more with less. From a side view of the bicycle, you see that the bicycle is just mate black, and only from an angle view you can appreciate all the color that it has.The bicycle also has a bike bag, which is a part of the product branding. The branding follows the minimal idea, in form and color, and as with the bicycle, from a top view you can see it in complete black tone color only, and in color from an angle. For the logo of the bicycle, and the branding, a custom typeface was created, following the project ideology.   Video Ion Lucin - concept, design, industrial design, graphic design, motion design, branding, typography, 3D modeling, 3D animation, final image editing, presentation Colorsponge - 3D texturing, 3D lighting, V-ray rendering, image editing Clark Rhee – sound design http://soundcloud.com/clarkrhee - http://clarkrhee.com For more information check out https://www.behance.net/gallery/25630449/BAIK

BMW Vision NEXT 100

BMW Vision NEXT 100

It's been a long time since the last post about industrial design, which by the way, is my background. I sucked at industrial design, but I learned a lot about materials, budgeting and prototyping. I love seeing projects about the topic, especially car design. The BMW Vision NEXT 100 is one of this projects that makes wonder about the cars we will see in the future. It's a concept but gives a glimpse of what's coming and that's why it deserves a feature here on ABDZ Video

Armstrong Light Trap

Armstrong Light Trap

I am a fan of industrial design, especially for small objects and in particular lamps or anything related to lighting and lighting effects. I don't know why but it's just the contrast between bright and dark, the shadows the reflections... Armstrong is a project that epitomizes just this and is in a word, beautiful. Check out "light trap" here. Below you can see some images of this beautiful piece of design. It was conceived by Constantin Bolimond and Maxin Ali. For more information check out their Behance profile at https://www.behance.net/bolimond and https://www.behance.net/alimki The lamp turns on when taking out the cork and off when it is back in its place.

SP3.6 Headphones

SP3.6 Headphones

We tent to feature a lot of illustration, photography, app and UX design. The reason for that might be because it's what most designers and digital artists share and pursue, however we are fans of industrial design. My background is in industrial design and despite the fact I always felt inclined to visual design I am an admirer of ID projects like the SP3.6 Headphones that Simeon Lescanne shared on is Behance profile. Simeon is a product designer student from Paris, France. For more information about him check out his Behance profile at https://www.behance.net/simeonlescanne
