IN BOX Capsule Hotel

IN BOX Capsule Hotel

When I was in Japan a couple months ago, I had the fun opportunity to try one of their many capsule hotels. It's a pretty unique concept when you enter their premises, you are given a suit and things for your stay. Completely isolated from your personal things which made the experience quite memorable and bizarre at the same to be exposed to such minimalism. Afterward, you are offered a very clean space to sleep, take a shower, watch TV and with a 24-hour helpdesk. What's the best feature of these capsule hotels is its location, they are usually close to tourist attractions which are very accommodating. It reminded me this story of the past when I stumbled across the interior design project by DA Architects for In Box Capsule Hotel located in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Capsule hotel, based in Saint-Petersburg, Russia About DA Architects DA architects is a studio based in Saint-Petersburg, Russian Federation that mainly works in architecture (of course), interior design and also in industrial design. You should definitely follow their Instagram. More information: http://ianjepson.co.za.

Bó Burger and Fries Branding

Bó Burger and Fries Branding

Working on a brand identity is always a good challenge, it's not for nothing that most of us has multiple different practices to understand more the client and ultimately be on the same page. Let's take a look at the visual identity of Bó - Burger and Fries, a culinary place located in Kielce, Poland. Behind this mixed branding, the folks from Hopa Studio took on this project in branding, interior design and packaging as well. I kind of enjoyed the mixture of mediums into something quite different from what we usually see, hope you'll like it. Bó, for us, is an example of a good cooperation of a client and invited people, basing on trust, passion and specialization.Joanna Walczykowska has been responsible for the illustrations. Kamil Borowski, specializing in lettering, transformed the golden paint into calligraphic works of art. The corporate identity assumes two layers – the first associated with slow food, urban life and culture. The second – golden – refers to the style of the New York subway, graffiti and hip-hop. Elegant, glamorous typography combined with the style of letters and graphic forms, close to the style of the streets. About Hopa Studio Hopa Studio is an agency based in Warsaw, Poland. They focus their work into creating solutions not only for good aesthetic in different fields of design. We should look forward to see more from them. More information: http://www.hopastudio.com/en.

AIAIAI "Non-Design" Flagship Store

We have recently featured and reviewed the AIAIAI TMA-2 Modular Headphone and it's undeniably a beautiful product that will be part of your everyday use. As mentioned before (in the previous article), I really love the approach of AIAIAI the brand and their "non-design" approach among their products but by also keeping its modular system and functionalism. We would love to share AIAIAI Flagship Store located in Copenhagen, designed by Borg Brückner. Hope you will enjoy! Behind the Scenes: Creating the Walls of AppDynamics Office

We're excited to feature a newly launched project from the mastermind's of San Francisco based creative agency, Butchershop Creative. The project, designing the interior walls of San Francisco based company, AppDynamics. The inspiration, the "pixel." We love getting a sneak peek at the creative process behind such a large-scale and technical collaboration. Peek the documentary and check out some of the images and wall descriptors below. Our favorite, the aptly dubbed "If These Walls Could Talk" whereby giant half-toned faces of influential icons from Marilyn Monroe to Bill Cosby, Einstein to Da Vinci were subtly placed as back drops for meeting rooms. Yoobi Temakeria : Good Food Meets Good Design in London

Yoobi Temakeria : Good Food Meets Good Design in London

Yoobi Temakeria, located in London's Soho, is the brainchild of two entrepreneurs with ties to Brazil and Japan. Temaki, a variety of sushi born in Brazil where the largest Japanese population outside of Brazil resides, is simply fresh sushi wrapped in a cone. Taking this basic idea and creating an overall look and feel for the restaurant that resonates with the cultures it was inspired by was not an easy feat. The clean, minimal design is the result of impeccable architecture and super minimal design elements that creatively meld the vibe of Rio, Tokyo and London into one. Gundry and Ducker Architecture brought the space, a former warehouse, back to its roots by unearthing the original brick. A color palette was created by Ico Design and can be seen peppered throughout the unique space in a fun, quirky way while maintaining the minimal aesthetic. Enjoy a look behind the scenes of this awesome 360 degree branding project and be sure to visit Yoobi next time you pay London a visit! For more information visit: http://www.loveyoobi.com/

Philippe Starck designed hotel: Mama Shelter Istanbul

Philippe Starck designed hotel: Mama Shelter Istanbul

Mama Shelter, a whimsical brand of French hotels designed by the incomparable Philippe Starck, welcomes its fourth sibling with Mama Shelter Istanbul. I've had the opportunity to stay in the chain's chic Paris outpost and was overjoyed at every turn with the mix of wit and humor in the overall design. Mama Shelter Istanbul leaves no stone unturned and looks to be just as cool if not cooler than its 3 older sibs. If you have an upcoming trip to Istanbul on the docket I recommend you book your stay at this hip haven immediately if not sooner. The most enticing detail, uber cool comfort that isn't going to wipe out your entire travel budget. Check out a glimpse inside and get inspired to plan your journey after the jump. Like the other properties, Mama Shelter Istanbul is designed by Philippe Starck and features guest rooms with whitewashed walls stippled with pops of orange. The communal bar hosts a programme of hip DJ parties to attract young Turks, who begin the evening at the restaurant. The menu offers a mix of local and European fare by Michelin three-star chef Alain Senderens and features his special boeuf bourguignon with mashed potatoes. A roof terrace, serving an equally delectable menu of cocktails, is bound to be a summer hit. - Wallpaper For more information visit http://www.mamashelter.com/en/istanbul/rooms/
