UI/UX BBC Homepage

UI/UX BBC Homepage

British designer Andy Culbert was approached by BBC to help them discover a new vision for the BBC homepage. Check out some ideas and elements they came up with for the new homepage. For more from Andy Culbert visit http://www.worksbymero.com/. The BBC Content Discovery team approached me back in 2014 with a question to help them answer: what was next for their BBC homepage audience. The challenge was huge, how do you make space and sense for a organization that publishes on average 1500 pieces of content daily, 1200 hours of radio and 120 hours of TV, couple this with the 10 million visits on a weekly basis and it puts into context the magnitude of the challenge. Below is a fraction of just some of the of concepts ideas and exploration from my time on the project. My work covered all aspects of this enormous project from early sketches to workshops with the editorial teams, who would run the homepage once it was completed, to high level stakeholder across the BBC. It turned out that everybody wanted a say on how it would look and feel. As of now the site is still only in MVP phase but the plan is to rollout the widening work and implement some of the creative vision and scope that I left them with to more forward with over the next 12 months.

Fantasy is a User Experience Design Agency based in San Francisco and New York. In this project they created a system to simplify digital healthcare to make it easier for patients to find doctors and so on. Check it out! For more from Fantasy visit f-i.com. I was fortunate enough during my internship at Fantasy SF to work on one of their renowned case studies : What If We Could Rethink Digital Healthcare? Based on the work of Sacha Jerrems and Anatoliy Gromov, and with the help of Claudio Guglieri (Director of Design) and Scott Carter (UX Lead), I designed the whole experience from desktop, to mobile and Apple Watch, before it was passed on to the motion team that brilliantly brought it to life. - Julien Perriere No matter who we are, staying healthy – and making sure we have access to care when we’re not – is an important part of life. Surely something so important should feel simple? However, in 2015 we believe that health, technology and infrastructure have reached a moment when real improvements can be made to the way people look for and access health care everyday. So we began to look at an aging system through the lens of progressive disruption to explore “what if?”

Interaction Design: Animation

Animations on Interactive Design are immensely effective and important for the UI and UX. It's not just all about seeing how the users will react to your geography but also showing your progress and perception to your primary client. Being communicative with words and visuals is one thing but with animations in my opinion, just bring it to another level. Great UX is about more than just looking nice - it is about feeling right and making the user an integral part of an experience. Too much going on and it distracts the user - too little, they struggle to figure out how to use it; there is a certain balance to it all. This is something we truly understand and implement into every app or website that we design. Design Concept: Noma North User Interface

Design Concept: Noma North

This is a really cool project by two students from Denmark. They branded and designed an entire website for the fiction culinary brand Noma North. Check it out. This project was done by Jimmy Laursen and Louise Sender. Noma North is a new culinary concept that takes the guests out in the nature and gets them as close to the ingredients and their origin as possible. Each year 12 destinations are picked (one for each month) but not revealed - this will only happen one month in advance to maintain mystery and excitement. On the site we really wanted to highlight the local and high quality produce and ingredients, but at the same time make the user 'explore' the site. This was a school project and fictional. Therefore we take no credit and/or have no copyright for the images used.
